Bikeability Level 1 – Cycle Training for Beginners

This course is ideal if you have just learnt how to ride. It’s the next step on the cycling skills ladder.

Level 1 training takes place in a safe traffic free environment, usually a quiet car park or the school playground. The course involves mastery and control of the bicycle in off-road settings, preparing trainees for on-road cycling.

Lessons are fun, educational and interactive. During the 2 hour course you will:

  • Develop basic cycling skills through games and activities
  • Learn the key parts of a bike
  • Carry out a basic safety check

After the course participants will be presented with a Level 1 certificate and a badge.

These, ‘Bikeability Level 1’ cycle training session are available through Andrew Hetherington from the Chiltern Cycle Hub. Milton Keynes Council are subsidising these sessions but you will have to pay a booking fee of £7 directly to the Andrew to secure your place (One subsidised session per person).

All participants must be between the ages of 6 and 9 years and be able to ride a bike (without stabilisers). If you aren’t able to ride a bike without stabilisers yet, book on to one of our Learn to Ride lessons.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Booking is essential for this course and places are VERY limited so please respond promptly to emails to ensure your place is secure. Sessions will be allocated on first come first serve basis.
