Join a circular cycle tour of some of the Heritage Open Day Events

Get the family on their bikes and join us for a short (2-3 miles) Guided Ride visiting the HODS events of the day in North Milton Keyes. Guided by qualified and experienced ride leaders we will meet at 13.30 at MK Museum and will return around 16.00. This is an easy ride, suitable for all ages and abilities and any type of bike. This is the 4th year we have run this event and it is usually very popular so book early to reserve a place.

Who can join a ride?

All riders including beginners and families are welcome. These rides are perfect for anyone wanting to find new cycle routes and meet new friends. Rides take place at a leisurely pace with plenty of time to take in the view.

Our Get Cycling MK Guided Rides are led by very friendly, experienced and knowledgeable ride leaders. We ride at the pace of the group and never leave anyone behind.

Book your place

Numbers are limited on every ride. You must book your place using the Lets Ride website. All of our rides are listed under the name ‘Get Cycling MK’ so it’s easy to see who you will be riding with.

Borrow a bike

No bike? No problem!

You can pick up a bike from a nearby Santander Cycles MK docking station, or hire an electric assisted bike from Lime.

If you need to hire a bike follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to Santander Cycles MK or download the ‘nextbike by TIER’ app. For a Lime bike, download the Lime App or go to www.li.me/.
  2. Register for the ride on the Lets Ride Website – Search for Milton Keynes in the Find a Ride area and look for the Get Cycling MK rides.
  3. Before you set off, check whether there’s a bike available nearby.

Bike checks and equipment

If you are bringing your own bike, or a friends, check it over before the ride – make sure the tyres are fully inflated and not too worn; brakes should stop the bike well and you should be able to operate them. If you have gears, they should work and very importantly, the bike should fit you and not be too big or small. We highly recommend all riders wear helmets. Minors must wear helmets for the ride.

Improve your skills

Our ride leaders are happy to give you tips and techniques to help you cycle more confidently, but if you’re interested in improving your skills, we also offer a wide variety of cycle training courses. Bikeability cycle training courses are designed to help you ride safely and confidently anywhere cycling is permitted. More information is available on Milton Keynes City Council’s Get Around MK Website here Cycling Skills Training

Top tip for making the most of the day – arrive early and look around the Museum. Do so before the bike tour starts as the museum closes at 4.30pm.
