Free parking for electric cars in Milton Keynes
Milton Keynes is the easiest place to park for electric car drivers with dedicated parking for ultra low emission cars. Any driver who is plugged in and charging at any of our Town Centre bays gains access to free parking during their stay but better still – Milton Keynes also offers free parking at over 15,000 bays in the centre with a dedicated Green CMK parking (virtual) permit.
The Green CMK parking permit
Park for free in any of our purple parking bays with a Green CMK parking permit. Permits are available for any vehicles that have CO2 emissions of less than 75g/km and can travel at least 70 miles without any emissions as classified by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles. See the list of eligible vehicles.
Vehicles with emissions between 76-100g/km will still be able to purchase a Green permit at a cost of £315 per year. There are also ways to apply for 3 or 6 month permits.
Charges still apply for parking in our premium red bays even with a green permit.
How to apply
To apply for a permit please first create an account on our Council website and then complete the application for the low emission green permit. Your vehicle will then be registered as a qualifying ULEV, and can enjoy free parking in the centre.
Unlike most other permits available, you do not need to either work or live in Central Milton Keynes, as long as your vehicle meets the emissions criteria.
